Butterflie’s valley is located on the north part of Rhodes island, between the villages Theologos & Psinthos, 12 kms away from Rhodes airport. A breath taking valley full of trees, with Pelecanos river to flow on the middle it’s one of the most attractive destinations on the island!
The kind of butterflies you will see in the valley is the Panaxia Quadripunctaria and thousands of them they are nesting in the valley from end of June till the end of August.
Unfortunately, over the last few years, the population of the butterflies has been constantly in decline. The most important reason is the disturb by the visitors of the valley. Many of them because they like to see the butterflies flying they are hand clapping or whistling, because of that the butterflies they are forced to fly most of the day consuming valuable energy so at the end many of them they die exhausted.
